A hand-woven bamboo shade that hangs where your ceiling light is now. The weave is left open, so the bulb never glares: the light filters through the bamboo and lands on the ceiling and walls as a soft, warm pattern.

The open lattice is what turns a single bulb into a pattern on the ceiling. A solid shade would only point the light down; this one lets it spread.

Every shade is woven by hand from split bamboo. Slight variations in the curve and the rhythm of the weave are the signature of a piece made by a person.

Before you order

Can I hang it myself?

It is hardwired, so it replaces an existing ceiling fixture on its electrical box. If you're comfortable swapping a light fixture, it's a short job; otherwise, or if you need a new ceiling point, call an electrician. Renting? The floor lamp gives the same light with nothing to install.

Is 31.5 inches too big for my room?

It's a statement piece. It sits best over a dining table at least 48 in long or round, or centred in a living room. Hang it so the bottom of the shade is about 30 to 36 in above the table top.

Does it come with a bulb?

No, bulbs aren't included. It takes any standard E26 bulb up to 60 W, and LED bulbs work too.

How do I clean it?

A dry, soft brush. Don't use water on the weave.

Will mine look exactly like the photos?

Very close, but never identical, and that is the point. Each piece is woven by hand, so the curve of the shade and the rhythm of the weave come out slightly different every time. Bamboo is a plant, and its colour shifts a little from one harvest to the next, a touch lighter or a touch deeper; it also mellows gently over the years. Screens show colours differently, too.

What you receive is a piece of its own, not a copy of the one in the pictures. If it isn't what you hoped for, you have 90 days to send it back, and the return is on us.

What if it arrives damaged?

Contact us with a photo of the piece and its box and we'll put it right with a replacement or a refund.

What if it doesn't fit my space?

Return it within 90 days for a full refund. Check the size first: “smaller than I expected” is the most common regret with decor bought online.
